REGIONAL DATA INFORMATION CENTER

Southwest State University, a four year liberal arts university in Marshall, Minnesota has established a Regional Data Information Center. This center is a part of new initiative to better serve the Southwest Minnesota region. This center is critically needed because information was not presented in the past 55 years to effectively plan for or impact the demographic, economic and social decline that occurred in southwest Minnesota. With information, plans can be developed to effectively manage, impact and guide future changes. To accomplish this goal, the center will serve as:

the depository of secondary and primary data

the source data interpretation indices

the source of development resources for business and community leaders

the distribution point for critical studies and data

the electronic publisher of data, study results and related resources

the coordinating unit for an annual conference on regional issues.

This center will provide decision makers immediate access to data, research and networks when facing critical decisions.

Current center staff include:

Director John W. Meyer Ph.D.
Participating Faculty Joseph A. Amato Ph.D.
